Advanced Mobility Device Securement Skills Development Workshop

Transit agencies have the responsibility to provide safe transportation and respect the civil rights of all passengers, including those who use mobility devices. In order to fulfill this responsibility, operators secure mobility devices and place seat belts on passengers who use mobility devices as transit seating.  This workshop gives transit professionals that are responsible for training, supervising, and coaching operators an opportunity to gain insight on addressing securement challenges, explore related issues with peers, and enhance their knowledge and skills.

Introduction of procurement software and other RTAP available products and training modals for transit authorities and agencies.  Including a demonstration of the Procurement Pro I and Procurement Pro Phase II software, this enables grantees to view procurement requirements from their states and localities as well all required federal clauses and certifications and other supporting documentation, such as checklists and templates, to help manage the procurement process.

Green Transit Fleet Certification

David Kestenbaum, Sustainable Transportation Manager- University of Vermont

How transit fleets can reduce costs, carbon footprint and effectively position themselves within their communities.  UVM's multi-year pilot program is being conducted as part of a larger research program and, amongst other objectives, hopes to provide the foundation for a long-term environmental certification program for the passenger transportation sector.  It is the first in the passenger transportation sector to recognize, via an official certification program, excellence in environmental performance.  A review of the pilot program and the emerging opportunities for transit fleets will be covered.

 

                                                           The Return of the Massachusetts Transit Roadeo program                                                                           Sue Lebbossiere, Superintendent of Bus Training- MBTA

                                                                        A review of the MBTA bus roadeo program and how the Massachusetts public transportation providers can               benefit from the national roadeo program.  This session will focus on how to host and manage an effective                      agency roadeo program.
